Website re-design

13/5/2015

Hi there!

I've just re-launched my website with the new design. I have a strong interest in paper cut-out animation and illustration and this is something I'm planning to work on more this year. I created my logo out of paper and I think it represents my personality and my work successfully. I love the muted background with the bright floral and foliage motif. I've also updated the layout and navigation of the site so there are less pages and everything is much more succinct and easy to find. The clean, white design works really well with the pops of colour from my logo.

Thanks for taking a look around and I hope you enjoy the new design!

BBC Talent Ticket Roadshow 2015

Back in March, I was lucky to be involved as a volunteer in BBC Outreach's Talent Ticket Roadshow. The scheme sees the BBC visit 10 Bristol schools in two weeks and I worked as an animation workshop assistant with year 9 students. It was a really enjoyable and rewarding experience, especially seeing the young students become excited about animation and realise it's something they can pursue as a career.

Branding Design

Hey all! Been a busy bee of late working on my third year final project but I just wanted to share the logo process for a recent client, Duncan Craigen. Duncan really wanted something that incorporated the idea of strength and premium service with a calm blue colour palette to represent his business. We went with a Greek theme because the business is named after the first letter of the Greek alphabet and I was able to tie this together really nicely with the Greek lettering and Greek statue. It has a really professional, premium finish with an overall bright feel. I love what we've created!

Company On film

This July, I won a Company Magazine competition to be featured as one of Company's top 7 film grads for the October Issue. I was fortunate enough to be invited to visit the Company offices in Soho, London and produce a short animated film based on footage from the October issue cover shoot in LA. I used Adobe Photoshop and After Effects to create my film in the style of a comic book.

My film has now premiered on company.co.uk

SHarp shotz Animation

'Established in 2007 by IDEAL, the Bristol based development charity in partnership with George Francis (a youth worker and social entrepreneur). The partnership proved to be highly successful in establishing Sharp Shotz in Bristol and Beyond. IDEAL has taken on the running of the Sharp Shotz and is responsible for its relaunch in 2013'  http://sharp-shotz.com/index.php?page=Home

Sharp Shotz runs an animation competition between several secondary schools in Bristol. The schools compete in teams to pitch their idea to a panel of industry professionals their idea for an animation/documentary film. This year the theme was about cyber-bullying.

I volunteered at the finals for the competition which involved using my knowledge of animation to help prepare the secondary school teams for their pitch.

Subsequently, I pitched my idea for the 30-second animated section of the film in a team of two to one of the winning teams and won the pitch. We are currently in the pre-production stages of the film which involves storyboarding, character designing and CG modelling.

These are some of my rough designs and ideas developed into presentation storyboards and character designs.
